Adding some pink and red to our shelves…

IMG_6002

For some reason, I’ve been blessed with homeschool gusto this week.  I’ve been dreaming up Valentine’s Day themed trays for our shelves and having a great time planning fun activities for the boys.  Homeschool has an ebb and flow to it, don’t you think?  You have those weeks when you are dredging along, meeting the bare minimums.  Then, you have those weeks full of wonder and joy.

Recognizing this wavering flow of ups and downs has helped me come to terms with the fact that all weeks don’t have to be amazing.  It’s normal to have slower, less interesting weeks.  But those amazing weeks, full of wonder….those are the ones that make homeschooling worth it.

Where are you on your homeschool flow?

p.s. Do you have any requests for what kind of trays you’d like to see with a Valentine’s Day twist?  Speak now, or you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.  ;)

I am in an interesting space right now..feeling a bit unorganized..Just ordered some new curriculum items and I need to organize everything..But more importantly, my 4 year, old well he will be 4 in a few weeks, has been having serious discipline issues..I am in constant correction mode..Back talk, disobeying,,By the time they are in bed I am so tired but I am still restless and up till 2am..So we are dragging.I am sure my energy is somehow rubbing off on them..But next week is a new week and I am determined it will be better.

You poor thing. I know that place all too well. The only thing I can say is it won’t last forever. Next week will most likely be much better. May be do something really fun and out of the ordinary to change all of your moods. Like instead of doing school work one day, try this edible bath paint ( http://mymontessorimoments.com/2012/05/09/edible-bath-paint/ ) or go on a field trip. I find it takes just one fun day to get us all in a better mood. I’m hoping for the best for you.

Ohhh…I cant wait to see what you come up with! I think I am going to get some pink trays out soon too! I cant wait. In all honesty, I love valentines day a LOT! :) I love the happy weeks too! This week was a little slower, but we are in a good place right now!

I can’t wait to see what you have planned. I love Valentine’s Day too. Probably a little too much. And not in the date with my hubby kind of way. More like the crafty family fun kind of way. Probably not the same way most people think of V-day.

      • Stephanie says:

Oh…that is EXACTLY how I think about valentines day! I think my hubbie thinks I’m crazy, but as least he doesnt need to plan a fancy date to keep me happy! All I need is a trip to the craft store and some pink glitter ! ;) I hope you have lots of crafty family fun too!

Lori, post some ideas..I like the idea of craft items but they don’t come to my mind easily..I have to see something that grabs my interest or just recreate something I have seen but coming up with it on my own..umm my brain does not think that way :) But I want to do something fun with my boys..

I am excited to have found your blog! I say I am just starting out with Montessori – I have been trying to ‘find our groove’ with a montessori inspired education for about 6 months now, mixed with a bit more traditional for the older children in my house (I have 5, ages 8-2, and don’t have many inpired ideas for making materials for the older ones yet, and they still have books and curriculum that we’ve had all along – so we do a little half and half with them!) That being said, I LOVE looking at montessori blogs and finding new ideas or new ways of doing things. And I, too, look forward to seeing some Valentine’s Day ideas – I have been preparing to make some fun trays up for our homeschool as well :)

Hi Amy! I’m so excited you found me too. I have tons of Valentine’s Day Themed trays that I’m hoping to get posted on Tuesday. I think you’ll like them. I’d also like to hear what you do in your homeschool for VDay so please check back with me and let me know. Glad to have you as a reader. It’s nice to “meet” you. :)
