I couldn’t turn the rest of you away empty-handed, so I’ve prepared a step-by-step tutorial on how to make a bedroll like this one I made for JR’s birthday. It’s fairly easy and relatively inexpensive to make. I think I ended up paying $22 for all of the supplies and it took me an hour and a half to finish.
Start by choosing 2 coordinating fabrics, one for the front and one for the back. I purchased the pillows at Walmart for $2.50 each and it worked out that 1 and a half yards of each fabric worked perfectly for a 3 pillow bedroll. Wash them in cold and stick in the dryer to pre-shrink. Trim any strings that have loosened around the edge. Lay the two fabrics facing right side (the pattern side) to right side. So, you will see the backside of the fabric facing up. This way, when you turn it inside out, the pattern side will be facing out.
As good as my intentions were in trying to make everything really clear, I’m sure I’ll get lots of questions, so ask away! I’m sure there’s something I left out. ;) Asher is very excited to have a bedroll like “Bubba.” They’re great for movie watching in the family room, camping trips, hotel room stays and you can also fold it up like a chair in a reading nook.
Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you have a fantastic week. It’s actually RAINING here so my grass might actually turn green. ;)

Congratulations to the winner! So jealous. The bedroll turned out great! Asher looks very pleased to be like “bubba.” Thanks for the step-by-step instructions I can refer to in the future when I make one for Holden!
I was thinking how great it would be to assist in a child’s development to crawl over things too. It would have been great when we were trying to get Asher to transition from butt scooting to walking. If only I had known then what I know now! :)
Congrats to the winner. Love the bedroll I am going to make one for my daughter. Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks Megan. I bet your daughter will LOVE it! I know my boys do. Thank you for entering. I really do wish I could give you each one…but then I’d be broke. Haha. :)
This is perfect timing. J-jo has to nap in the nursery on Mondays (I am teaching art at a homeschool school) and I need a mat for him.
That is perfect timing! I was writing it just for you, of course. :) It really was easy, the boys love it and I think it’s really comfy too. Not that I’ve used it…not at all. That would be weird. LOL.
What a great idea!
By the way, I’ve given you the Lovely Blog award, because I’m always inspired when I come here. But I know you got it recently, so don’t worry about passing it along…unless you really want too. ;)

Thanks so much Jessica! You just made my morning! I came home from pilates to find your sweet message about the award. I think your blog is equally lovely. :)
Thank you so much for this giveaway!!! My boys will be thrilled to play with it!! Can’t wait!
Christel
You’re very welcome Christel. I’m happy to send my little American I Spy Bag to France for you. I have a feeling there will be a few items in the bag that will look new to your boys. Please follow up anytime to let me know if they like it.
Your tutorial was perfect! I made one last night and added 2 pillows. I think my 6-yo nephew will be able to use it until he’s 20! lol
