Using a Ladle

This is a wonderful practical life material for ages 3-6.  Asher is 2.5 and he enjoyed doing it too.  In our school room, the boys take the tray over to a “wet” table.  They then, walk the bowl (with the mark on it) into the bathroom and fill it up to the line with water.  We had quite a few little water trails from Asher, but JR was able to do it without spilling.  If you don’t want little water trails, you could combine this with a wet pouring activity and provide a small pitcher of water at the “wet” table.  After they have ladled all of the water from one bowl to the other, they empty it into the sink, dry any water drops left behind and replace it in the tray.

Hint:  IKEA has a toy kitchen utensil set for $3.99 that includes a ladle.  See it here.

Asher wouldn’t be Asher if he didn’t leave a mess in his wake :)
