{Don’t let the angelic smiles fool you…this is not how our trip went…}
Today, I started my attempt to save $10 per week by using coupons at the grocery store. Little did I know, most of the good coupons are in the Sunday newspaper. So, not only do I need to save the original $10, but also the $5 it costs to buy the paper. I definitely learned I will either shop without the boys or tranquilize them for the painfully long two and a half hours it took us. Yes, that’s right…it took twice as long as my non-coupon shopping, I had to go to two different stores and I spent 30 minutes coupon clipping last night. I’m not really selling this, am I?
On the upside, I did manage to complete a second goal while shopping. Meditating. That is if repeating, “I can do this” over and over while shopping counts. May be it will get better. May be I will get better at it. At the end of the day, I did save a grand total of $18.19. My favorite coupon of the day? $1.50 off of Excedrin…I definitely needed some when I got home.
Do you have better luck coupon clipping? What’s your secret?
PostScript: We came home from dinner to find shredded cereal boxes and cereal everywhere. I guess we left the pantry door ajar and our miniature daschund treated herself to a snack. There goes $5.50 of the $18.19 I saved using coupons. At this point, there’s nothing to do but laugh.

Oh man….it’s a great story (funny too since it didn’t happen to me) and the picture of the boys is absolutely adorable! But no, you aren’t really selling the coupon clipping! :) I wish we lived closer to each other. I would babysit those little angels so you could cut your shopping time down!
Haha I know what you mean, going out with kids already takes a long time, I can imagine how adding coupons and commuting to 2 stores would make an already long trip even longer. The postscript is so funny.. just when you thought nothing else could go wrong!
