We received a fun surprise this weekend. My brother, John sent the boys the sandpaper numbers I’ve been drooling over. He purchased them here from polliwog77 at Etsy. They are very good quality and less expensive than many of the Montessori material sites. JR was very excited to see them and he knew exactly what to do with them from his previous Montessori education. We are learning 4, 5, 6 & 7 right now. I know what you’re thinking…how could this really help them learn numbers any easier than just sight cards? I was surprised too when I saw how much easier it was for JR to learn when he had the senses of sight and touch active at the same time. I promise…it works. =)

{We’re continuing the tradition of Sandpaper Number Books started by Ms. Nona. This is a wonderful way to send the numerals home with students or in our case, we can take them to practice on the go. I see this coming in handy on road trips. =) }

I love the idea of crayon rubbings and making Sandpaper Number Books! I featured your Sandpaper Number Book photo and post in my Inexpensive and DIY Sandpaper Numerals post at http://livingmontessorinow.com/2012/02/13/montessori-monday-inexpensive-and-diy-sandpaper-numerals/.
